Kathy Swan grew up around her family's business in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and learned the business from her father. Now she is a highly successful businesswoman, private owner of JCS Wireless and a breast cancer survivor. Swan often faced adversity as a woman and learned to stare down conflict at an early age. She threw herself into many activities, positions of leadership and the business world and really began to do great things. However in between all of the amazing things she was pursuing and accomplishing, Swan was a couple months late going in for her routine mammogram. This was one appointment she shouldn't have missed. She soon discovered she had breast cancer.

Swan remained strong and determined. She had wrestled with politicians, social expectations and beyond; cancer was not going to be a fight she would lose. Swan diligently went to treatment and soon enough she had beaten breast cancer and now had a second chance and new outlook on life. She took on the mission of empowering women through education, support, and her involvement with Zonta International; an organization that strives to advance the status of women in political, education, professional, legal, and economic areas. Swan strives to be a role model for women starting with her daughter and granddaughter; her strength, optimism and passion make her an inspiration to all women.
